How an EWI system is built
Substrate preparation
Priming the surface of the substrate before commencing any work in the installation process.
Starter track and clip-on profile
A UPVC or aluminium base applied above the DPC to provide a level surface for the insulation.
Adhesive
Used to create a reinforcement layer or to fix insulation boards to a substrate for an EPS system.
EPS insulation
A high-performing, cost-effective insulation material used to upgrade the thermal properties of a building.
Mechanical fixings
Small fixings used to secure the insulation to the substrate for added security.
Base coat
Used to provide a strong surface on which to apply render.
Fibreglass mesh
Embedded within the base coat to enhance the tensile strength and crack resistance of the overall system.
Render primers
Aid adhesion between the renderer and the base coat, ensuring the renderer cures properly.
Decorative finish
