Plastering Materials We Use | Silicone Render, Lime, EWI Systems
Technical information

Materials and systems

We work exclusively with high-quality, BBA-approved materials. Here is an overview of what we use across our plastering services and why.

Thin coat and silicone renders

Advanced silicone render

Advanced silicone renders are tailored to provide high performance and a long-lasting, pleasing aesthetic for any property — even in the harsh coastal weather conditions of Brighton and Hove. Flexibility, breathability and hydrophobic properties ensure it can flex with a building’s natural movements, repels water and lasts for years.

It actively prevents problems with organic growth on external walls, ensuring no future issues with dampness or mould. Once installed, it requires minimum upkeep and retains colour pigments even after prolonged UV exposure.

Mosaic render

A decorative render that includes quartz aggregate — particularly strong, durable and waterproof, offering a textured, aesthetically pleasing finish.

One coat renderer

Designed to create a highly smooth surface on external walls in a single application.

Silicone paint

A high-quality masonry paint for painting over either an existing silicone render to refresh the facade, or over a mineral render to seal and decorate it. Highly breathable, waterproof and resistant to environmental pollutants — perfect for coastal areas like Brighton and Hove. Available in thousands of colours.

Base coats, primers and adhesives

Base coats

Essential for just-render and wall insulation systems, enhancing adhesion to the surface of the substrate. Highly flexible, breathable and long-lasting.

Aquabase

A highly water-resistant, vapour-permeable base coat adhesive — ideal for application in areas prone to water ingress.

One-coat dash cover

The perfect solution for masking pebbledash — covering the old finish in a single application ready for a new render.

Substrate primers

Used to aid adhesion between the underlying substrate and the base coat applied as part of the render or insulation process.

Topcoat primers

Used for creating a long-lasting finish. Can be pigmented to match the colour of the render beneath for consistency.

Fungicidal wash

Takes just 24 hours to kill all microorganisms on a substrate including algae, mould and lichen — essential preparation for many exterior jobs.

Insulation materials

We offer a range of insulation materials for a wide variety of structures, installed using both adhesives and mechanical fixings for added security. All part of our EWI service in Brighton and across Sussex.

EPS

High-performing, cost-efficient insulation that upgrades the thermal properties of a building, improving U-values and reducing the risk of water penetration and condensation.

  • Lightweight but durable
  • Non-degrading
  • Excellent thermal performance

Mineral wool

Improved thermal conductivity, acoustic insulation and outstanding fire resistance — non-combustible, acting as a fire barrier without contributing to the fire itself.

  • Fire resistant
  • Breathable
  • Good acoustic performance

Kingspan K

A premium board for EWI systems — ideal where space saving is important without compromising thermal performance.

  • Space saving
  • Premium performance
  • Resistant to water vapour
  • Easy to handle and install

XPS insulation

Foam insulation with outstanding thermal properties — particularly well suited for below the damp-proof course.

  • High compressive strength
  • Resistant to water
  • Cost effective
  • Ideal for below DPC

Fibreglass mesh

Embedded within the base coat to enhance tensile strength and crack resistance of the overall just-render or EWI system.

Render carrier board

Provides a durable backing surface for thin coat render systems. Can withstand extreme weathering — does not rot or swell on contact with water.

Beading, trims and accessories

Beading and mesh

Essential in just-render and EWI systems to reinforce weak points within the structure — preventing cracking at corners and edges.

Verge trims and over sills

Made from powder-coated aluminium to ensure the EWI system is completely waterproof — deterring water from the system and protecting the insulation from water ingress.

Mechanical fixings

Small but essential fixings used to secure insulation boards to the substrate in addition to adhesive — providing added security and longevity to the overall system.
